A passenger arriving from Bangkok was apprehended at Kempegowda International Airport on Tuesday after customs officials seized a large quantity of hydroponic ganja concealed in his baggage.

According to officials, the accused whose identity has not been disclosed was intercepted upon arrival, leading to the recovery of 3.66 kg of hydroponic cannabis , estimated to be worth ₹1.28 crore in the illicit market. The contraband was reportedly hidden in checked-in luggage in an attempt to evade detection.

In a statement shared on social media, Bengaluru Customs confirmed the seizure and said the passenger had been taken into custody. He has been booked under the provisions of the NDPS Act 1985 , which deals with offences related to narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

Officials indicated that the high value and quantity of the seized substance suggest a possible link to an organised smuggling network. Further investigation is currently underway to determine the source of the drugs and their intended destination.

Authorities have been stepping up surveillance at international entry points amid rising concerns over drug trafficking through air routes.
