Parthsarthi, Tavish shine bright at U16 national Tennis finals

From nail-biting rallies to dominating displays, Parthsarthi Mundhe and Tavish Pahwa emerged victorious in the girls’ and boys’ U-16 singles finals, leaving the crowd in awe at the Fenesta Open National Tennis Championship at the DLTA Complex on Saturday.

In the girls’ U-16 singles final, top seed Parthsarthi faced a stern test from Shreeniti Chowdhury, eventually winning 6-0, 3-6, 6-4 in an intense three-set clash. Parthsarthi raced through the opening set without conceding a game, but Shreeniti bounced back in the second to level the match. In the decider, Parthsarthi, trailing 2-4, displayed nerves of steel, winning four consecutive games to seal the title in one hour and 57 minutes.

In the boys’ U-16 singles final, eighth seed Tavish Pahwa showcased composure and consistency to beat Mannan Ashok Agarwal 6-2, 6-3 in straight sets. Tavish dictated rallies with precise baseline play and crucial service breaks. Mannan tried to fight back in the second set, but Tavish’s steady shot selection and mental strength saw him through to a straight-sets victory.

The U-14 category witnessed notable upsets. Jensi Kanabar stunned top seed Padma Priya Rameshkumar 6-2, 6-2 to lift the girls’ U-14 singles title, breaking serve three times in each set and maintaining composure throughout. In the boys’ U-14 final, Harsh Marwaha defeated fifth seed Aarav Mulay 6-2, 6-2, displaying strong returns and superior court control.

Doubles finals added more excitement. In the boys’ U-16 doubles, Tavish paired with Prakaash Sarran to defeat Mannan Ashok Agarwal and Om Ramesh Patel 1-6, 7-5, 10-6. The girls’ U-16 doubles crown went to Parthsarthi and Akansha Ghosh, who overcame Sanmitha Harini Lokesh and Deepshika Vinay Agamurthy 6-2, 7-6. U-14 doubles titles were claimed by Kaustubh Singh and Vivaan Mirdha (boys) and Padma Priya Rameshkumar and Shazfa SK (girls).

With thrilling matches and stellar performances, the Fenesta Open once again showcased India’s emerging tennis talent across age groups.
