Parasakthi Streams on ZEE5 After Steady Theatrical Run
After a steady and widely discussed theatrical run, Parasakthi , directed by Sudha Kongara, has made its digital debut on ZEE5, expanding its reach to a wider audience. The film, which was released in cinemas on January 10, 2026, during the Pongal festival, is now streaming exclusively on the platform in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
Set against the backdrop of Madurai, Parasakthi draws inspiration from real-life socio-political events, including the anti-Hindi imposition protests, and presents a gritty narrative rooted in identity, resistance and social justice. The film stars Sivakarthikeyan in a powerful lead role, supported by Ravi Mohan, Atharvaa Murali and Sreeleela.
Backed by GV Prakash Kumar’s stirring musical score and Ravi K Chandran’s evocative cinematography, the film vividly captures the energy of street protests, political rallies and the emotional undercurrents of its characters. The visual detailing of Madurai’s lanes and public spaces added to the film’s grounded realism.
During its theatrical run, Parasakthi performed consistently at the box office, earning approximately ₹85 crore worldwide and completing over five weeks in select centres. While it did not rely on a massive opening, the film benefitted from strong word-of-mouth, especially for its emotional depth and Sivakarthikeyan’s intense performance, which many critics and viewers have described as one of the best of his career.
Audience response, however, has been mixed in parts. While the film’s raw emotions, political relevance and performances received praise, some viewers pointed out pacing issues and felt the climax was slightly rushed. Despite this, Parasakthi managed to sustain discussion both on social media and among cinema circles throughout its theatrical journey.
With its arrival on ZEE5, Parasakthi is expected to find renewed appreciation among OTT audiences, particularly viewers who missed it in theatres or are keen to revisit its socially charged narrative. The digital release marks the next phase in the film’s journey, cementing its place as one of the more talked-about Tamil films of the year.
