The Telangana government has allocated Rs 205 crore over the past 32 months to address electricity-related issues and strengthen power infrastructure in the Paleru Assembly constituency, Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said.

The minister made the statement after inaugurating the newly modernised TGNPDCL Division Office and Electricity Revenue Office buildings at Warangal Crossroads in the Edulapuram municipal area of Khammam district. He said the government was focusing on improving electricity infrastructure and ensuring reliable power supply across the constituency.

According to Ponguleti, nearly 75 per cent of the infrastructure works taken up in Paleru have already been completed, while the remaining works would be expedited. He said the government had also extended substantial support to domestic consumers through the Gruha Jyothi scheme.

Over the past two years, beneficiaries of Gruha Jyothi in Paleru constituency received electricity subsidies amounting to Rs 40.19 crore, the minister said. The government was simultaneously promoting solar power as part of its efforts to expand renewable energy infrastructure.

Under the Model Solar Village initiative, solar installations are being developed at Cheruvu Madaram in Nelakondapalli for 1,350 domestic consumers. The project, estimated to cost Rs 15.66 crore, will have a total capacity of 2,709 kW. Solar power facilities for farmers are also being developed at an estimated cost of Rs 31.08 crore, he said.

The minister said an Electricity Ambulance, or Emergency Restoration Team (ERT) vehicle, had been introduced to respond quickly to power-related emergencies. In addition, 632 transformers have been installed in the constituency to strengthen the distribution network.

Ponguleti further announced plans to establish four new substations in Tirumalayapalem and Nelakondapalli mandals. These initiatives, he said, were aimed at improving the reliability of the power network and ensuring quality and uninterrupted electricity supply to consumers.

He also referred to the completion of the Bhadradri and Yadadri power plants, which he said had been left incomplete by the previous government. Ponguleti alleged that the earlier BRS government had incurred excessive expenditure per megawatt on the projects, resulting in the misuse of public funds.

The government was working to address past shortcomings and strengthen Telangana's position in the power sector, he said. Khammam District Collector Divakara T.S., local representatives, electricity department officials, party leaders and staff attended the programme.
