Palaniswami Accuses CM Vijay Of Favouring Bypoll-Bound Seats In Welfare Distribution
AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Tuesday accused Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay of prioritising Assembly constituencies likely to face by-elections while distributing welfare schemes, alleging that other parts of the state were being neglected.
Speaking to reporters here, the former chief minister criticised the state government's handling of administration and the economy, claiming that Tamil Nadu's economic growth had stagnated at 3 per cent due to mismanagement and administrative failures.
He alleged that the government's shortcomings had also affected the implementation of welfare initiatives, preventing the administration from adequately addressing people's concerns across the state.
Palaniswami further flagged the rising prices of essential commodities, including rice, sugar, pulses, cooking oil and other groceries, saying the sharp increase over the past six months had placed an additional financial burden on households.
He accused the Vijay-led government of failing to take effective measures to control the prices of essential goods and address public grievances.
The AIADMK leader also questioned the administration's priorities, alleging that it was spending time on issues that were not relevant to governance instead of focusing on pressing public concerns.
"The state government is incompetent and inefficient. It is wasting time on unnecessary issues instead of fixing administrative failures," Palaniswami claimed. His remarks come amid the AIADMK's criticism of the Vijay-led government over its administrative decisions and handling of public welfare.
