Pakistani National Held in UP for Allegedly Using Forged Identity Documents
A Pakistani national allegedly residing illegally in India has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district for using forged identity documents, police officials said on Friday.
According to Superintendent of Police (City) Abhishek Pratap Ajeya , the accused was detained on Thursday near Numaish Pul under the Kotwali Nagar police station limits during a routine checking drive. The operation was carried out based on suspicion and specific intelligence inputs , prompting officials to question the individual.
The accused has been identified as Wasid Irshad , a resident of New Karachi in Pakistan . During preliminary questioning and document verification, police discovered discrepancies in his identity papers.
Investigators revealed that Irshad had allegedly procured key Indian identity documents including an Aadhaar card, driving licence, and passport using a fake identity under the name Syed Wasid Ali , purportedly a resident of Sushila Vihar in Bulandshahr .
Police further stated that Irshad’s mother, Bilqis Fatima , had been granted a long-term visa (LTV) to stay in India but passed away in 2012. Irshad had also applied for a long-term visa, which remains pending approval , raising questions about his legal status in the country.
Following verification, authorities registered a case against him for forgery and illegal stay , and he has since been taken into custody and sent to jail.
Officials said a detailed investigation is underway to determine how the forged documents were obtained and whether a larger network facilitating such activities is involved.
