Pakistan Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met FBI Director Kash Patel at the agency's headquarters in Washington, with both sides holding discussions on expanding cooperation in counterterrorism financing , cyber investigations and broader regional security issues. The meeting underscored continued engagement between the United States and Pakistan on law enforcement and intelligence-related matters.

According to a statement shared by Patel on social media platform X, the discussions focused on strengthening collaboration through specialised training, resource sharing and joint efforts to counter financial networks that support terrorism as well as increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.

Calling the meeting "an honour," Patel said the FBI values Pakistan's support in protecting American interests across the region. He noted that closer coordination between the two countries would help address evolving security challenges that extend beyond national borders.

The FBI chief added that both nations discussed facilitating additional resources and advanced training programmes aimed at improving investigative capabilities. These initiatives, he said, would benefit efforts to tackle terrorism financing and cybercrime both domestically and internationally.

Patel also described the US-Pakistan partnership as an important pillar of regional security cooperation, expressing confidence that continued engagement would produce further successes in the future.

For his part, Naqvi has been visiting the United States in connection with international law enforcement engagements. Earlier this month, he attended the Fifth United Nations Chiefs of Police Summit (UNCOPS 2026) in New York, held on July 7 and 8. The summit brought together police leaders from around the world to discuss policing innovations, transnational crime, peacekeeping and international security cooperation.

While no specific agreements or joint initiatives were announced following the Washington meeting, the discussions reflected a shared interest in enhancing institutional collaboration against common security threats. The interaction comes as cybercrime, extremist financing and cross-border criminal networks continue to demand greater international coordination, intelligence sharing and capacity-building among law enforcement agencies worldwide to improve collective resilience and response.
