Over 4,000 Jaipur students set Guinness world record with mass CPR drill
More than 4,000 students from a private school in Jaipur on Wednesday entered the Guinness Book of World Records by simultaneously performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on mannequins to promote awareness about life-saving emergency response techniques.
A total of 4,317 students practised CPR on 2,000 human mannequins at the same venue and time, setting two world records for the highest number of participants in a CPR relay at one location and the largest number of mannequins used simultaneously for CPR practice, according to an official statement.
The previous record for maximum participation in a CPR relay was 3,319 people , set in Bengaluru in 2024, while the record for the highest number of mannequins used stood at 278 , created in England in 2000.
The event was organised to raise awareness about sudden cardiac arrest , cases of which have increased in recent years, particularly among the youth. A team from Guinness World Records was present to verify and certify the achievement.
Medical experts emphasised that timely CPR can significantly improve survival chances during cardiac emergencies. The organisers said similar large-scale awareness initiatives should be encouraged across the country to equip more people with essential life-saving skills.
