
Outrage Over Macherla Assault: CM Calls for Immediate Arrest
A disturbing incident in Macherla has sent shockwaves across Andhra Pradesh, after a woman government employee was allegedly raped by an unidentified assailant . The victim , a 32-year-old working as an outsourced office subordinate in the Panchayat Raj Department, was attacked at her residence .
Police said the woman, who has been living alone following separation from her husband, was at home on April 2 evening when a stranger knocked on her door seeking drinking water. When she opened the door, the man reportedly forced his way inside, assaulted her, and committed the crime before escaping .
Following the complaint, police swung into action and launched an intensive investigation . The victim was shifted to the Government General Hospital in Guntur for medical examination and treatment . Special teams have been constituted to track down the accused, with several suspects already detained for questioning.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reacted strongly, directing officials to swiftly identify and arrest the offender. Stressing that crimes against women would not be tolerated, he called for stringent legal action against those responsible.
He further instructed police authorities to expedite the investigation and provide regular updates, asserting that the government remains firmly committed to ensuring women’s safety and delivering justice without delay.
