OTM 2026 ( Outbound Travel Mart ) Asia’s leading travel trade show organised by Fairfest Media , was held at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai , underscoring India’s growing influence in the global tourism economy. With more than 2,200 exhibitors from over 60 countries and upwards of 50,000 travel trade professionals , the three-day event highlighted how strongly international destinations, airlines and travel companies are aligning their strategies around the Indian traveller.

Although India accounts for roughly 1.5% of global international tourist arrivals , industry discussions at the show emphasized that the country’s real impact lies in its outbound travel market. Rising disposable incomes, better international air connectivity and evolving lifestyle aspirations are encouraging more Indians to travel abroad for leisure, business and celebrations. As a result, destinations increasingly view India as a priority source market with long-term revenue potential.

Key growth segments were evident throughout the exhibition and conference sessions. Corporate travel is expanding as Indian companies grow their global presence, while the MICE sector meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions is gaining strategic importance. Destination weddings have also become a significant tourism driver, influencing luxury hospitality and group travel demand. Experience-led tourism, including wellness, adventure and cultural exploration, continues to grow as Indian travellers seek immersive journeys beyond conventional sightseeing.

Several destinations used the platform to announce India-focused initiatives. Thailand set a target of 2.55 million Indian visitors , promoting wellness tourism alongside visa-free entry. Morocco reported a 224% increase in Indian arrivals compared with pre-pandemic levels . Malaysia highlighted improved connectivity through Malaysia Airlines . From Africa, Zambia promoted wildlife and safari tourism. Meanwhile, Da Nang in Vietnam positioned itself as a hub for MICE and destination weddings.

Industry momentum is aligned with broader reforms, including India’s National Tourism Policy, infrastructure upgrades, themed tourism circuits and digital visa facilitation. Together, these developments signal sustained growth, with India increasingly shaping global tourism flows rather than merely participating in them.
