Operation Sindoor ongoing, any misadventure will be met firmly: Army Chief

Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Tuesday said Operation Sindoor remains ongoing and issued a strong warning that any future misadventure by Pakistan would be dealt with effectively. Addressing a press conference, the Army chief said the operation reflected India’s calibrated and resolute response to cross-border terrorism and had reset strategic assumptions by demonstrating the country’s willingness to strike deep against terror infrastructure.

Elaborating on the operation, Gen Dwivedi said the Indian military had showcased readiness, precision and strategic clarity, effectively puncturing Islamabad’s “longstanding nuclear rhetoric.” He said the Army had mobilised its troops and was fully prepared for ground offensives if the situation demanded.

As part of Operation Sindoor, the Army has enhanced troop deployment and forward mobilisation along sensitive sectors, intensified surveillance through drones, satellites and other intelligence assets, and strengthened logistics and border infrastructure under a whole-of-government approach. Intelligence coordination has also been stepped up to pre-empt terror threats, while counter-terror operations continue across Jammu and Kashmir.

On the northern front, the Army chief said the situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China remained stable but required constant vigilance. He noted that renewed military-level contacts and confidence-building measures were contributing to a gradual normalisation, even as capability development and infrastructure enhancement continued.

Gen Dwivedi said the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir remained sensitive but was firmly under control, with security forces maintaining a robust posture. Reiterating India’s resolve, he said Operation Sindoor underscored that any future provocation would be met with a resolute and effective response.
