ONGC Opens Applications for 2,623 Apprentice Posts Across India

A recruitment notification for 2,623 Apprentice posts has been issued by the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), and applications are being received through online mode. The apprenticeship intake has been announced for multiple work centres across the country, covering a wide range of trade, technical, and graduate disciplines.

According to ONGC, applications were opened on 16 October 2025, and candidates are required to apply only through online portals designated under the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) and the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS). As per the official schedule, the last date for NAPS applications remains 17 November 2025, while the extended last date for NATS applications has been set as 25 November 2025. Although the NAPS website will remain accessible until 30 November 2025, ONGC has clarified that the official deadline for NAPS-linked trades has not been changed.

A total of 2,623 vacancies have been distributed across ONGC’s operational sectors, with 856 posts in the Western Sector, 569 in the Mumbai Sector, 458 in the Eastern Sector, 322 in the Southern Sector, 253 in the Central Sector, and 165 in the Northern Sector. Candidates holding qualifications from 10th pass, ITI, Diploma, B.Com, B.Sc, BBA, and Engineering degrees are considered eligible, depending on the trade.

The age of applicants must fall between 18 and 24 years as on 6 November 2025, with the date of birth required to be between 6 November 2001 and 6 November 2007. Age relaxations of five years for SC/ST, three years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) and up to ten years for PwBD categories are being provided in accordance with government norms.

The apprenticeship stipend will range from ₹8,200 to ₹12,300, depending on the category of apprenticeship. Graduate Apprentices will receive ₹12,300, Diploma Apprentices ₹10,900, and Trade Apprentices between ₹8,200 and ₹10,560, based on their qualification and the duration of their ITI trade.

Selection will be carried out purely on the basis of merit, derived from marks obtained in the qualifying examination. No written test or interview is being conducted as part of the process. In cases where candidates secure similar merit, preference will be given to the applicant with the higher age. Reservation of seats will be followed as per the Government of India guidelines for SC, ST, OBC and PwBD candidates.

Candidates applying for trades listed under NAPS (Trades 1–29) are required to register on the apprenticeshipindia.gov.in portal, while those applying for trades under NATS (Trades 30–39) must register on the nats.education.gov.in portal. ONGC has stated that paper applications will not be accepted, and applicants have been advised to regularly check the official portals for updates.

The notification, detailed qualification requirements, sector-wise vacancies, and application links have been made available on the ONGC website ongcindia.com. The recruitment is being conducted to support ONGC’s workforce development initiatives and to expand opportunities for young candidates seeking technical and skill-based training across the oil and gas sectors.
