ONGC Invites Applications for 2,623 Apprentice Posts

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has issued a notification inviting online applications for 2,623 Apprentice posts under both the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) and the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS). The recruitment advertisement was released on 16 October 2025, and applications have been made available through the official website ongcindia.com

The online application process has been scheduled to close on 25 November 2025 for NATS candidates, while the last date for NAPS candidates has been kept unchanged at 17 November 2025. The selection results are planned to be released on 26 November 2025. Paper-based applications have not been allowed, and candidates have been instructed to apply only through the designated online portals.

A total of 2,623 vacancies have been distributed across ONGC’s six work centres: Northern Sector (165), Mumbai Sector (569), Western Sector (856), Eastern Sector (458), Southern Sector (322) and Central Sector (253). The posts have been offered in a wide range of technical and non-technical disciplines, covering ITI, diploma and graduate-level apprenticeship categories.

Eligibility requirements have been clearly outlined. Applicants for trade apprentice positions have been required to possess qualifications such as Class 10, Class 12, or ITI certificates in relevant trades, including Electrician, Fitter, Welder, Surveyor, COPA, Electronics Mechanic, Mechanic Diesel and others. Diploma apprenticeships have been made available for candidates with three-year engineering diplomas in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Electronics, Instrumentation and Computer Science. Graduate apprenticeships under NATS have been reserved for applicants holding degrees in Commerce, Engineering, Geology, Business Administration and other notified fields.

The age criteria have required candidates to be between 18 and 24 years as on 6 November 2025, with the date of birth falling between 6 November 2001 and 6 November 2007. Age relaxations have been provided as per government guidelines, including five years for SC/ST, three years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) and up to ten years for PwBD candidates, with additional relaxation for PwBD applicants belonging to reserved categories.

Stipends have been fixed according to qualification levels. Graduate apprentices will be paid ₹12,300 per month, diploma apprentices will receive ₹10,900, and trade apprentices will be paid between ₹8,200 and ₹10,560, depending on the duration and type of their ITI or academic qualification.

The selection of candidates has been planned purely on a merit basis, determined from marks obtained in the prescribed qualifying examinations. In case of equal marks, preference will be given to the candidate with higher age. Canvassing has been strictly prohibited, and reservations have been set to be implemented as per Government of India norms for SC, ST, OBC and PwBD categories.

Applicants have been instructed to ensure their eligibility before applying. Registrations for trades under NAPS have been required to be completed on apprenticeshipindia.gov.in, while NATS registrations must be made through nats.education.gov.in. Candidates have been advised to regularly check the ONGC website and apprenticeship portals for updates and clarifications.
