One-time promotion drive in Singareni mines

In a move that will bring cheer to its workforce, Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has decided to promote nearly 150 Equipment Project (EP) Operators working in its open cast mines.

According to company officials, the operators will be moved up in their respective job categories as a special one-time measure. Those who have completed two years in Excavation Category-D (EC-D) will be promoted to Excavation Category-C (EC-C). Similarly, employees who have completed three years in EC-C will be promoted to Excavation Category-B (EC-B).

The decision was taken on the instructions of SCCL Chairman and Managing Director, N. Balram, and the official orders were issued on Thursday. Importantly, these promotions will not depend on the availability of vacancies. Instead, they are being given as a recognition of service and experience, ensuring that hardworking employees are rewarded.

Company sources said the move will not only benefit about 150 operators directly but also boost morale among other employees working in the mines. Open cast mining, which requires the use of heavy equipment, is considered one of the most crucial operations in Singareni. By encouraging and rewarding the operators, the management hopes to motivate workers to continue their best performance.

This step has been widely welcomed by the employees, as promotions in such large numbers are rare. Many see it as a positive sign of the management’s willingness to support and recognize the contribution of the workforce.
