Officials Risk Suspension for Failing to Implement Digital Health System

To make administration in the State Medical and Health Department fully transparent, the ‘e-Office’ system has been introduced. Health and Family Welfare Department Commissioner Veerapandian has made it clear that strict action will be taken against officials who neglect its implementation . During a virtual review on Tuesday with district health officials and ROs, he warned that those showing negligence could even face suspension .

He emphasized that the system has been in effect since January 7 , and all service-related matters—from primary health centers to district offices —including correspondence, dispatches, and approvals , must be conducted entirely in digital format . Only court cases and bank cheques will be allowed in physical files. Any activity carried out outside the e-Office will be considered unauthorized .

To monitor the new system, state nodal officers have been appointed for each district . The Commissioner instructed them to resolve technical issues immediately wherever they arise. He further noted that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Health Minister Satyakumar Yadav are constantly reviewing the matter. Nodal officers have been directed to report any violations of government orders . Additionally, all patient data must be entered into electronic health records , and funds released under the National Health Mission (NHM) must be spent promptly , or future releases will be withheld.

On staff issues, the Commissioner directed that eligible employees should be promoted immediately . Any unjustified delays in promotions will invite disciplinary action . He also stressed that vacant positions for pharmacists, lab technicians, and staff nurses at PHCs must be filled as a priority , noting that IVRS feedback indicates service delays due to staff shortages . District officials were instructed to correct these gaps immediately to ensure timely delivery of medical services to the public.
