Odisha youth critically injured after killing leopard in self-defence

A young man in Odisha’s Cuttack district sustained serious injuries after being attacked by a leopard inside his farmhouse.

On Friday night, Subhranshu Bhol, a resident of Anantaprasad village, heard dogs barking outside his farmhouse. When he opened the door to investigate, a leopard suddenly jumped inside and attacked him.

Fighting for his life, Subhranshu grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed the animal multiple times, ultimately killing it. Despite his efforts, he sustained multiple severe injuries and was initially taken to a local hospital before being shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack , where his condition remains critical.

The forest department has taken custody of the leopard’s carcass and is investigating how the wild animal entered the farmhouse, which is located near a forested area.

While India has witnessed numerous incidents involving tiger attacks, this case is notable as the victim acted in self-defence , successfully saving his own life.
