Odisha Signs MoU With BharatCares to Set Up Five Driver Sensitisation Centres
Odisha’s State Transport Authority (STA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with BharatCares to strengthen road safety awareness and education across the state, officials said on Friday.
The collaboration aims to improve road safety knowledge among drivers, licence applicants and other road users through technology-enabled learning, behavioural interventions and community outreach initiatives.
Under the agreement, BharatCares will establish and operate five driver sensitisation centres in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Keonjhar and Angul. These centres will provide interactive educational programmes designed to familiarise participants with road safety practices and encourage responsible behaviour on roads.
The centres will employ digital learning modules, assessments and counselling sessions to engage participants and improve their understanding of traffic safety. The initiative is expected to help address behavioural aspects of road use by promoting greater awareness of safe driving practices.
Officials said the partnership seeks to develop a scalable and sustainable model for road safety education that can contribute to long-term behavioural change among drivers and other road users. The use of technology-based learning and targeted sensitisation programmes is intended to make road safety education more accessible and effective. Community outreach will also form part of the initiative, helping extend awareness beyond the proposed centres.
The agreement aligns with Odisha’s broader objective of improving transport safety and promoting safer roads across the state. By combining structured training with digital tools and counselling, the initiative seeks to strengthen public understanding of road safety and encourage more responsible conduct among road users.
The five centres will serve as designated locations for driver sensitisation, with their programmes focusing on awareness-building and behavioural improvement. Officials said the collaboration is intended to support better road safety outcomes through sustained education and public engagement. The partnership brings together the state transport authority and BharatCares to promote road safety awareness through an organised framework of training and outreach. Further operational details, including the timeline for establishing the centres, were not specified in the announcement.
