Odisha secured investment proposals worth Rs 66,392 crore, with the potential to create 54,135 jobs, during a two-day business outreach in New Delhi that concluded on Saturday, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s office said.

The state signed 38 MoUs involving investments of Rs 64,703 crore and received Investment Intention Forms (IIFs) worth Rs 1,689 crore, reflecting strong industry interest in Odisha’s growth prospects.

The outreach followed Odisha Food Pro 2026 and featured one-on-one meetings between Majhi and leading investors and industry representatives, along with sector-specific roundtable discussions.

Majhi also visited the Haier manufacturing facility in Noida, where he interacted with senior officials and technicians and reviewed manufacturing processes. The visit focused on advanced manufacturing practices and opportunities to strengthen Odisha’s ecosystem in electronics, consumer durables, supply chains and ancillary industries.

“Odisha is building an ecosystem where industries can grow, create jobs and build long-term value,” Majhi said, stressing that the state’s focus extends beyond attracting capital to generating employment, strengthening local supply chains and creating opportunities for youth.

Three sector-focused roundtables explored investment opportunities. An engineering goods session examined manufacturing, infrastructure, ancillary development and supply-chain integration. A textile and apparel discussion focused on exports, skilled manpower and employment-intensive investments. An aluminium downstream session, organised with NALCO, explored value addition, ancillary industries and MSME participation.

Concluding the outreach, Majhi said the response from industry was encouraging and described the programme as a reflection of growing confidence in Odisha. He said the state was ready for the ‘Purvodaya’ initiative.

Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain said the government would focus on converting investment interest into projects on the ground, while strengthening sector-specific value chains and employment.

The Opposition BJD also questioned the government’s record on industrialisation. Party spokesperson Lenin Mohanty alleged that some industries that had shown interest during the previous BJD regime were moving elsewhere. He cited a 2023 MoU with SRAM & MRAM and questioned how many announced proposals had translated into operational projects further.
