State Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav took part in an NTR Bharosa pension distribution programme at M.M. Halli village in Kuderu mandal, where he personally handed over pension benefits to beneficiaries. He also interacted with them and enquired about their family conditions and the welfare assistance they were receiving.

During his interaction with beneficiaries, Keshav enquired about their day-to-day challenges and asked whether they were receiving the benefits available under different welfare programmes. He explained that the government was taking steps to ensure that every eligible person receives the assistance intended for them. The minister also stressed the importance of taking welfare measures closer to people, particularly those belonging to vulnerable sections of society.

The state government is currently providing NTR Bharosa pensions to more than 61.80 lakh beneficiaries across Andhra Pradesh, covering senior citizens, widows, persons with disabilities and other eligible categories. The government is disbursing Rs 2,692.34 crore towards the pensions, according to the minister.

Keshav said the welfare initiatives were designed to go beyond providing financial assistance. They are also intended to provide social and economic security to people who depend on government support, enabling them to lead their lives with dignity.

He said the administration was making continuous efforts to identify eligible beneficiaries and ensure that welfare benefits reach them without unnecessary barriers. The government, he added, was committed to extending support to poor families and other vulnerable groups through its various welfare programmes.

The minister said the ‘Pedala Sevalo’ programme was aimed at taking government welfare services directly to people’s doorsteps and providing assistance when they face difficult circumstances. Direct interaction with beneficiaries, he said, would help the administration better understand their needs and ensure that welfare measures reach the intended sections.

The pension distribution programme at M.M. Halli was part of these efforts, with the minister personally meeting beneficiaries and handing over their pension benefits. The initiative also provided an opportunity for beneficiaries to share their concerns and discuss the welfare support available to them.
