The clarification came from BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia , who put an end to widespread reports suggesting that the 39-year-old former India captain was set to retire after the Lord's fixture. Speaking on the issue, Saikia said there had been no discussion whatsoever about the match being Rohit's final appearance for India.

He emphasized that Rohit remains a regular member of India's ODI squad and will continue playing for the national team as long as he remains in the team's plans. According to the BCCI secretary, the Lord's ODI is not being treated as a farewell match , dismissing all speculation surrounding the star batter's future.

The statement comes after reports claimed that the Indian selectors were planning to look beyond Rohit and give Yashasvi Jaiswal an extended opportunity in the ODI setup.
