BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) strongly criticised the Telangana government over the death of Warangal district Narsampet RTC driver Shankar Goud, stating that it was “not a suicide, but a murder by the government.” He made these remarks on X (Twitter).

KTR alleged that Shankar Goud was driven to take the extreme step due to the “betrayal” of RTC workers by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. He termed it highly condemnable that authorities did not allow the body to be taken to the Narsampet depot for last respects. He also objected to the illegal arrest of former MLA Peddi Sudarshan Reddy and RTC workers who stood by the victim’s family.

He demanded ₹1 crore compensation for Shankar Goud’s family and a government job for one family member . Calling the incident a “dark day in Telangana’s history,” KTR noted that three drivers attempting suicide in a single day reflects government negligence . He accused the Congress government of failing to fulfil its promises and warned against alleged attempts to weaken RTC. Urging workers not to lose morale, he assured that the BRS party would stand by them and fight for their rights.

Former minister T. Harish Rao expressed deep anguish , stating that Shankar Goud’s death had deeply shaken him . He held Chief Minister Revanth Reddy directly responsible , citing delay and negligence .

He criticised the government for failing to honour its promise of completing the RTC merger and resolving workers’ issues. “ How long will you delay implementing manifesto promises? How many more lives will be lost? ” he questioned.

Harish Rao demanded that the government immediately address workers’ grievances and initiate talks. He also called for declaring the day of Shankar Goud’s death as “Appointed Day” in honour of his sacrifice. Urging RTC workers not to resort to extreme steps, he appealed for a united and lawful struggle to secure their rights, assuring full support from his party.
