Eighth-seeded Linda Noskova produced a composed and spirited performance to defeat third seed Jessica Pegula 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 in the rain-delayed final of the Berlin Open , capturing the grass-court title on Sunday.

The summit clash, originally scheduled to begin around noon, was pushed back nearly six hours after heavy rain caused flooding at the venue, testing the patience and rhythm of both players before they finally stepped onto court.

Once play began, the contest unfolded as a tight battle. Pegula, who had famously saved five match points en route to her Berlin triumph in 2024, was unable to repeat her late heroics this time. The American, chasing her 12th career singles title, pushed hard to level the match after dropping the first set, but Noskova held firm in the decider with greater control in the key moments.

For the 21-year-old Czech player, this victory marked the second title of her career and a significant breakthrough on grass. The WTA 500 event also served as an important warm-up ahead of Wimbledon , which begins on June 29.

Earlier in the week, top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka , a four-time Grand Slam champion, had fallen to Pegula in the semifinals, highlighting the high-quality field assembled in Berlin.

In the day’s other final, Czech fourth seed Marie Bouzkova overcame third seed Emma Navarro 7-6(5), 4-6, 6-2 to win the Nottingham Open , securing her first career grass-court singles title.
