Nora Fatehi Summoned By Delhi Court In Rs 200-Crore Sukesh Chandrasekhar Case
Bollywood actor and dancer Nora Fatehi has been summoned by a Delhi court as a witness in the Rs 200-crore extortion case involving alleged conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar. The actor has been directed to appear before the court on November 2 as the prosecution begins presenting its evidence in the high-profile case.
According to a court order dated October 16, Additional Sessions Judge Gagandeep Singh directed that summons be issued to Fatehi, who is listed as witness LW-3 in the third supplementary chargesheet. The case is being investigated by the Delhi Police Special Cell, and the proceedings are currently at the stage of recording prosecution evidence.
The case centres on allegations that Chandrasekhar and his associates extorted approximately Rs 200 crore from Aditi Singh, wife of former Fortis Healthcare promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh. According to investigators, Chandrasekhar allegedly impersonated senior government officials while lodged in Delhi's Rohini jail and used spoof calls to convince Aditi that he could secure her husband's release from jail in exchange for money.
A court has framed charges against Chandrasekhar, his wife Leena Paulose and other accused under provisions of the Indian Penal Code relating to impersonating a public servant and extortion. Charges have also been framed under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), which targets organised criminal activities.
Fatehi had previously been questioned by the Delhi Police's Economic Offences Wing over her alleged association with Chandrasekhar and his wife. Investigators recorded her statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, and she was subsequently listed as a witness in the supplementary chargesheet.
During the investigation, the actor reportedly told authorities that her interactions with Chandrasekhar took place through his wife. Investigators also questioned her about an event she attended in Chennai in December 2020.
Fatehi's summons are in her capacity as a witness, not as an accused in this extortion case. Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandez has also been mentioned in the police investigation, with her statement among those recorded by investigators.
