Nominations Open for Padma Awards 2027 Govt Invites Public Participation

The Ministry of Home Affairs has opened nominations and recommendations for the Padma Awards 2027 , which will be announced on Republic Day, 2027 . The last date for submitting nominations is 31 July 2026 .

The nominations are being accepted only through the online Rashtriya Puraskar Portal (https://awards.gov.in).

The Padma Awards comprising Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri are among India’s highest civilian honours, instituted in 1954 . They recognise “work of distinction” across diverse fields including art, literature, education, sports, medicine, social work, science and engineering, public affairs, civil service, trade, and industry .

The government reiterated its commitment to making the awards more inclusive under the “ People’s Padma ” initiative. It has urged citizens to actively participate by nominating deserving individuals, including self-nominations .

Special emphasis has been placed on identifying individuals from women, SC/ST communities, divyang persons, weaker sections of society , and those engaged in selfless public service .

Nominations must include detailed information in the prescribed format, along with a citation of up to 800 words highlighting the nominee’s achievements and contributions.Further details are available on the Ministry of Home Affairs website (mha.gov.in) and the Padma Awards portal (padmaawards.gov.in) .
