Noida International Airport to Launch Flights from June 15, IndiGo to Operate First Service
The Noida International Airport will commence commercial flight operations from June 15 , marking a significant milestone in Uttar Pradesh’s flagship greenfield aviation project aimed at easing congestion in the National Capital Region.
According to the airport operator, IndiGo will operate the inaugural passenger flight, with Akasa Air and Air India Express expected to begin services shortly thereafter. The launch follows the airport’s inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the grant of security clearance under the Aerodrome Security Programme by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security.
Officials said the airport is initially expected to handle around 65-80 domestic flight movements per day (arrivals and departures combined), with numbers likely to rise steadily as more airlines join operations. The facility, with one runway and a single terminal , has an annual passenger handling capacity of 12 million , translating to roughly 30,000-35,000 passengers daily in the first phase.
In terms of logistics, the airport is projected to process over 1-1.5 lakh tonnes of cargo annually once cargo services commence shortly after passenger operations begin. Dedicated cargo infrastructure is expected to strengthen supply chains across western Uttar Pradesh and NCR, benefiting sectors such as electronics, perishables, and e-commerce.
Revenue generation in the initial years is estimated to be in the range of ₹2,500-₹3,500 crore annually , driven by aeronautical charges, cargo handling, retail concessions, and allied services. Officials indicated that revenues are expected to scale significantly as traffic grows and international operations begin, likely around Diwali later this year .
Designed with a long-term vision, the airport is set to expand in phases to handle over 70 million passengers annually , positioning it among India’s largest aviation hubs. The project also emphasises sustainability , aiming for net-zero emissions through energy-efficient infrastructure and environmentally responsible operations.
Authorities believe the launch will boost regional connectivity, trade, tourism, and investment , while offering airlines cost-efficient operations and passengers a seamless travel experience.
