Noida International Airport ready to take off: PM Modi to inaugurate Phase-I

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Noida International Airport at Jewar, Gautam Buddha Nagar, on Saturday, a landmark project poised to transform Delhi-NCR’s aviation landscape. Conceived as a second international airport for the region, it will complement Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport , easing congestion and positioning the capital among the world’s leading aviation hubs.

The Prime Minister will tour the terminal at 11:30 am, followed by the official inauguration of Phase-I at noon and an address to the public.

Developed under a Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) model with a total investment of Rs 11,200 crore , Phase-I features a single terminal capable of handling 12 million passengers annually, expandable to 70 million in future phases. The airport is designed to operate over 100 flights daily initially, including both domestic and international services. Its 3,900-metre runway can accommodate wide-body aircraft, supported by advanced navigation systems, Instrument Landing System, and modern airfield lighting for all-weather, round-the-clock operations.

The airport also hosts a multi-modal cargo hub and integrated logistics zones, with an initial capacity of 2.5 lakh metric tonnes annually , expandable to 18 lakh metric tonnes , alongside a dedicated 40-acre MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) facility.

Sustainability and cultural design are central to the project. The airport aims for net-zero emissions , using energy-efficient systems, and its architecture draws inspiration from Indian ghats and havelis , blending heritage with modern infrastructure.

Strategically located along the Yamuna Expressway, the Noida International Airport is designed as a multi-modal transport hub, ensuring seamless connectivity via road, rail, metro, and regional transit systems. Once fully operational, it is expected to boost trade, tourism, and regional development, cementing India’s role as a global aviation leader.
