No Tolerance for Corruption, Focus on Welfare and Infrastructure: Chandrababu Naidu

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday said his government was committed to transparent governance, welfare-driven development and large-scale infrastructure creation, asserting that there would be “zero tolerance for corruption” under his administration.

Addressing a public meeting in Gudivada, Krishna district , as part of the Swarna Andhra–Swachh Andhra programme, the Chief Minister said he had taken responsibility for safeguarding the future of the Telugu people and steering the state towards sustained growth through accountable governance.

During the event, Naidu laid foundation stones for public health and urban infrastructure projects worth ₹15,274 crore across 120 urban local bodies . The projects include water treatment plants, overhead drinking water tanks and restoration of ponds and other water bodies. He said the government’s focus was on providing safe drinking water and improving sanitation standards across Andhra Pradesh.

To strengthen waste management, the Chief Minister announced the deployment of 126 electric auto-rickshaws for door-to-door garbage collection, with plans to add another 1,104 e-autos in the future. He also said ₹528 crore had been allocated for waste-processing facilities and that eight waste-to-energy plants would be established across the state.

Criticising the previous YSR Congress Party government, Naidu alleged that poor waste management had led to pollution of water resources. He claimed the present administration had already cleared large quantities of accumulated waste and vowed to eliminate all legacy garbage dumps by October 2 , coinciding with Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary .

Highlighting irrigation initiatives, Naidu recalled that the Pattiseema Project was completed in just 12 months to transfer Godavari waters to the Krishna basin. Despite a 48 per cent rainfall deficit this season, he said Pattiseema was helping supply irrigation water to the Krishna Delta. He added that nearly 450 TMC of water had been diverted through the project, contributing significantly to the state’s economy. Reaffirming his commitment to completing the Polavaram Project , Naidu said it would eventually enable gravity-based water supply to the delta and support broader plans to interlink rivers from Vamsadhara to Penna .

The Chief Minister also assured support to the aquaculture sector and said he had raised concerns over rising aqua feed prices with the Centre.

Announcing the schedule for the Talliki Vandanam scheme, Naidu said financial assistance would be credited to beneficiaries between July 22 and July 24 . More than 67.4 lakh beneficiaries will receive support under the programme, with the government set to distribute ₹10,122 crore .

On law and order, Naidu said no individual would be protected if found guilty of wrongdoing, irrespective of political affiliation. Referring to a recent assault case involving a woman in Guntur , he said action was taken immediately against the accused, including suspension from the party and arrest by police. He also criticised abusive social media campaigns targeting the family of Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and alleged attempts by YSRCP leader Seediri Appalaraju to interfere in a hit-and-run case involving his son. Reiterating his position, Naidu said the law would act impartially and that no one would be above accountability.
