Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu has clarified that the ongoing tensions in the Middle East have not affected the state’s seafood exports . He urged aquaculture farmers across the state not to worry and to continue their cultivation activities as usual.

On Wednesday, the minister held a review meeting with representatives of the Andhra Pradesh State Aquaculture Development Authority to assess the current export scenario . He noted that recent developments in the Gulf region had created concern among some farmers, but assured that the ground reality does not indicate any disruption to exports. Farmers were advised not to believe rumours and to continue shrimp farming normally.

Atchannaidu specifically cautioned shrimp farmers against resorting to panic harvesting . Harvesting the crop prematurely could lead to financial losses , he warned. He added that the export market remains stable and the government is closely monitoring the situation.

The minister explained that seafood exports from India to West Asian countries constitute only 3–4 percent of the total exports. Hence, the current developments in that region are unlikely to cause any major disruption to the country’s seafood trade. He advised farmers not to take hasty decisions based on misleading information .

He also stated that demand for shrimp in the United States market is likely to rise in the coming period, particularly for shrimp in the 50–60 count per kilogram category. Farmers were encouraged to focus on quality production to benefit from the anticipated demand.

Refuting reports about a shortage of export containers , the minister said such claims are baseless and that there are no hurdles in the export process. He added that the NDA government is continuously reviewing developments in the export sector and maintaining close coordination with exporters and concerned agencies.

Atchannaidu reiterated that the government will take all necessary steps to ensure farmers do not face any difficulties. He urged aquaculture farmers to remain calm, rely only on verified information , and continue their farming operations without fear.
