No fuel shortage, India prepared for energy crisis: Rajnath Singh

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday asserted that there is no shortage of fuel or gas in the country and that India is fully prepared to tackle any potential energy crisis arising from the ongoing tensions in West Asia .

Addressing a Sainik Samman Sammelan in the Kerala capital, Singh said the government is closely monitoring developments in the region and has taken adequate measures to safeguard the country’s energy security. He noted that Indian Navy ships are actively escorting Indian oil tankers through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz to ensure their safe passage amid rising geopolitical uncertainties.

Emphasising the Centre’s preparedness, the minister said India remains capable of handling any disruptions in supply chains. He also credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for leveraging diplomatic channels effectively to protect the country’s interests in the Gulf region.

“We are closely monitoring the situation in West Asia and are prepared to deal with any scenario,” Singh said, reiterating that there is no cause for concern regarding the availability of fuel and gas.

During his address, Singh also touched upon the political landscape in Kerala, urging voters to support the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming Assembly elections. He praised Modi’s leadership, describing it as “tried and tested” and likening it to “24-carat gold.”

Kerala is set to go to the polls on April 9 to elect representatives to its 140-member Assembly.
