No Fuel Shortage in Andhra Pradesh, Confirms Civil Supplies Director
Amid reports of shortages of cooking gas (LPG), petrol, diesel and fertilisers in Andhra Pradesh, Civil Supplies Director Nupur Ajay Kumar has clarified that such claims are baseless . In a statement issued on Monday, he said the state has sufficient stocks to meet demand and that supply systems are under constant monitoring . He urged the public not to be misled by rumours circulating on social media.
LPG Supply Remains Stable
The state currently has around 14,000 tonnes of LPG in stock . While daily consumption stands at about 4,000 tonnes , supply slightly exceeds this at 4,100 tonnes . Officials said consumers are being provided with home delivery services, eliminating the need to visit gas agencies. People have been advised to use WhatsApp, missed calls or mobile applications for booking cylinders.
Steps to Prevent Panic Booking
To curb panic-driven advance bookings, the government has introduced restrictions on refills. In urban areas, consumers can book a new cylinder only after 25 days of receiving the previous one, while in rural areas, the waiting period is 45 days . Authorities have also implemented OTP-based delivery for the majority of supplies to ensure transparency and prevent misuse.
Crackdown on Illegal Cylinder Use
The Civil Supplies Department has intensified action against illegal transportation and unauthorised use of LPG cylinders. Since March 1 , more than 1,000 cases have been registered across the state, with around 4,400 cylinders seized during enforcement drives. Officials warned that using domestic cylinders for commercial purposes will attract strict legal action.
Fuel Supply Uninterrupted
The Director also assured that petrol and diesel supplies remain unaffected across the state, with adequate stocks available at all fuel stations. There has been no change in fuel prices. Citizens have been advised not to rush to petrol bunks based on rumours and to rely only on official information, avoiding unnecessary stockpiling.
