No Districts to Be Scrapped, Singareni Jobs Safe: CM Revanth Reddy
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy dismissed rumours about the district abolition and alleged interference with the Singareni Medical Board , describing them as false and politically motivated propaganda. Addressing a large public meeting at Chelpuru village in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district under the Praja Palana – Pragati Bata programme, he clarified that the state government has no plans to scrap existing districts or create new ones. He assured that any major administrative decision would be taken transparently , discussed in the Assembly, and implemented only after public consultation and stakeholder input.
The Chief Minister also rejected claims that the corporate medical board of Singareni Collieries Company Limited would be dissolved or that hereditary employment opportunities would be removed. He noted that thousands of families across the coal belt depend on Singareni for their livelihood and said the government would never take decisions that harm workers’ welfare . He credited the contribution of Singareni miners to Telangana’s development and reiterated that labour interests remain a top priority.
Highlighting development initiatives, Revanth Reddy announced that the government has allocated ₹6,116 crore for the development of municipalities in the former Warangal region. He handed over a ₹205 crore bank linkage cheque to the Sammakka–Saralamma District Women’s Federation to strengthen women’s self-help groups and economic empowerment. He also remembered the role of Telangana ideologue Kothapalli Jayashankar and university students in the statehood movement, and praised local MLA Gandra Satyanarayana Rao for development works worth nearly ₹200 crore. He added that more irrigation projects would be launched after municipal elections.
Focusing on spiritual tourism, the Chief Minister outlined plans for the 2027 Pushkaram , stating that temples and pilgrimage centres along the Godavari river stretch from Gnana Saraswati Temple Basara to Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy Temple Bhadrachalam would be developed as major tourism hubs. He said eco-tourism resorts in forest areas are also being considered and noted the massive turnout at the Sammakka Saralamma Jatara .
In a political attack, Revanth Reddy accused the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi government of misusing phone tapping to blackmail businesspersons and collect around ₹1,500 crore through electoral bonds. He alleged that phones of opposition leaders, journalists, judges, and film personalities were tapped and that information was used to pressure land deals and extort money. He warned that those responsible for illegal surveillance would face punishment and alleged that BRS indirectly aided the BJP in elections.
The Chief Minister criticised the Union government for not ordering probes into alleged irregularities in projects such as Kaleshwaram, while central agencies filed cases against Congress leaders like Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi . He also accused Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy of protecting BRS leaders. Urging voters to support Congress in the upcoming municipal elections, he said the party represents a people-centric government committed to welfare schemes and housing for the poor.
Before the public meeting, the Chief Minister visited the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple at Kodavatanch village, where he performed special prayers, inaugurated development works including a guest house, and planted a sapling in the temple premises.
