No countersign needed: CBSE to schools

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has once again clarified that schools should not send requests for countersignature of transfer certificates (TCs) to its headquarters or regional offices. The Board emphasized that the practice of countersigning TCs between CBSE-affiliated schools had already been discontinued earlier.

Despite this directive, CBSE continues to receive such requests, leading to unnecessary delays and inconvenience for students and parents. CBSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj stated that schools’ failure to follow the existing guidelines hampers smooth digital operations and adds avoidable administrative burden.

Reiterating its stance, the Board has instructed all affiliated schools to adhere strictly to the policy, ensuring that no transfer certificate issued by one CBSE school to another requires any countersignature. This move aims to streamline student transfers and promote efficiency in the era of digitisation.
