No Compromise on Women’s Dignity and Safety, Says Guntur MLA Galla Madhavi After Assault Case

Reaffirming a zero-tolerance policy towards crimes against women , Guntur West MLA Galla Madhavi said the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) would never compromise on issues concerning the dignity, safety and respect of women. Her remarks came in response to the alleged assault and humiliation of a woman in Krishnababu Colony of Guntur’s 21st Division , an incident that has sparked widespread concern.

The MLA said she was deeply disturbed by the incident and acted immediately after meeting the victim’s family, who narrated the circumstances surrounding the case. Following their representation, she contacted officials at Nagarampalem Police Station and instructed them to take prompt and stringent action against those responsible.

According to Madhavi, police quickly registered a case and took the accused into custody. She also announced that Mallela Venkata Ramanamurthy (Mallela Murthy) , a TDP ward secretary and the principal accused in the case, has been suspended from the party’s primary membership with immediate effect .

Stressing that no one is above the law, the MLA said individuals found guilty of insulting, harassing or mistreating women must face legal consequences regardless of their position or influence. She asserted that TDP does not support or defend anyone involved in behaviour that demeans women.

“ The law is equal for everyone. Whoever commits a wrong must face punishment. There is no place in our party for those who disrespect women, ” she said.

Madhavi also noted that the government had previously taken strict action in cases involving harassment of women and girl students, and assured that the same seriousness would be maintained in the present case. She said efforts would be made to ensure that those responsible receive the strongest punishment permissible under law .

Extending her support to the victim’s family, the MLA promised to stand by them until justice is delivered. She further warned that anyone threatening the safety and security of women in the constituency would face strict and uncompromising action .

The case continues to be under police investigation, with authorities pursuing further legal proceedings.
