No compromise as BCB reiterates refusal to play T20 World Cup matches in India

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Tuesday admitted the ICC’s reluctance to shift Bangladesh’s T20 World Cup matches out of India , but reiterated that it remains unwilling to compromise on its stand, citing security concerns .

In a statement issued after a video conference with the ICC , the BCB said the world body had requested a reconsideration of its demand, but the board’s position remains unchanged , with both sides agreeing to continue discussions to explore possible solutions .

The ICC maintained that the tournament schedule has already been finalised , making any relocation of matches difficult, but the BCB stressed that the safety and well-being of players, officials and staff remained its foremost priority.

Despite the ICC’s risk assessment reportedly not flagging any specific or direct threat , the BCB said it was not prepared to travel to India under the current circumstances.

Bangladesh are scheduled to play three league matches in Kolkata and one in Mumbai during the tournament, which begins on February 7 .

With both the ICC and BCB holding firm to their respective positions, the issue remains unresolved , with no immediate sign of compromise . If Bangladesh refuses to play in India, it could forfeit matches, disrupt T20 World Cup standings, affect player careers, strain relations with ICC and BCCI, and face potential fines or sanctions.
