Nine Killed, 12 Injured as Bolero Collides With Truck in Maharashtra’s Bhandara

Nine people, including three children, were killed and 12 others injured after a Bolero SUV collided with a truck in Maharashtra’s Bhandara district in the early hours of Friday, police said.

The crash occurred at around 4 am near Pimpalgaon in Lakhni taluka, along the Nagpur-Raipur National Highway. The SUV was carrying passengers travelling from Raipur in Chhattisgarh towards Nagpur when it met with the accident.

According to local reports, around 20 people were travelling in the Bolero at the time of the incident. Several passengers were reportedly asleep when the vehicle crashed into the truck near a petrol pump, causing severe damage to the SUV.

The deceased have been identified as Jambai Ramavatar Verma (50), Meenakshi Rajkumar Verma (26), Dhairya Rupesh Uike (4), Sweety Rupesh Uike (6), Gayatri Rupesh Uike (30), Ganeshia Aravat Patle (22), Sarita Vijay Verma (30), Gresha Rajkumar Verma (2) and Rajkumari Prahlad Patel (35).

The injured were taken to hospitals in Sakoli, Bhandara and Nagpur for treatment. Among those injured was the Bolero driver, Jagdev alias Jaggu Nirmal Verma, who was also hospitalised.

Police said the circumstances leading to the collision were being examined. The Lakhni police have begun an investigation to determine how the accident occurred and whether any violation or negligence contributed to the crash.

As of the latest available reports, there was no confirmed information about the driver’s arrest or any specific legal action against him. Further action is expected after the police investigation establishes the circumstances of the collision.
