NIELIT university & centres opened by Vaishnaw

Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, on Thursday officially launched the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) Digital University (NDU) in New Delhi. Alongside the launch, he inaugurated five new NIELIT centres across India, located in Odisha, Muzaffarpur (Bihar), Daman, Mizoram, and Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh).

The NIELIT Digital University aims to make digital education more accessible to students nationwide, including those in villages and remote regions. The platform will offer training and courses designed to meet the needs of various industries, equipping young learners with the skills required for emerging careers in the digital economy.

Addressing the media during the event, Vaishnaw said, “We have been working on the idea of a digital university version of NIELIT for the past three years. Today, I am delighted to see this vision become a reality.”

The five newly inaugurated centres will further strengthen the reach of digital education, providing students across different states with opportunities to acquire industry-relevant skills. “The focus of the NIELIT Digital University is to deliver education aligned with industry demands. It is the Prime Minister’s vision to take education to every corner of the country. A digital university ensures that even students in the remotest areas have access to quality learning,” he added.

The launch of NDU and the expansion of NIELIT centres are part of the government’s broader initiative to make education inclusive and technology-driven. By leveraging digital platforms, students from rural and far-off areas will now have the opportunity to learn skills that enhance their employability and prepare them for the jobs of the future.

With this initiative, India takes a significant step toward bridging the digital divide and ensuring that quality education reaches every student, irrespective of geography.
