NIA Seizes Houses of Accused Linked to 2017 CRPF Lethpora Camp Attack
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday seized two residential properties in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir belonging to Fayaz Ahmad Magray , an accused in the 2017 fidayeen attack on a CRPF training centre in Lethpora .
Officials said an NIA team attached a two-storey house and a single-storey house owned by Magray in the Lethpora area. The action was carried out following an order issued by a special NIA court in Jammu on March 5 this year , allowing the agency to attach properties linked to the accused.
Magray has been accused of involvement in the December 30, 2017 attack on the CRPF group centre in Lethpora, one of the major militant assaults on security forces in the region at the time. In the attack, five CRPF personnel were killed and three others injured when heavily armed militants stormed the facility and opened fire after hurling grenades.
Security forces later launched a prolonged counter-operation at the camp, which lasted several hours and ended with three terrorists being killed in the encounter .
Investigators have alleged that Magray played a role in planning and facilitating the attack and providing support to the militants involved . The NIA had earlier arrested him during the investigation and later filed a chargesheet against multiple accused linked to the case under anti-terror laws.
The attachment of Magray’s houses is part of the agency’s continuing legal measures in the case, aimed at targeting assets linked to individuals accused of involvement in terror activities and strengthening the prosecution in the ongoing proceedings.
