New Year treat: Andhra Pradesh distributes NTR Bharosa pensions a day early

In a special New Year gesture, the Andhra Pradesh government has announced the early distribution of NTR Bharosa social pensions to beneficiaries. Usually released on January 1, the pensions were provided on December 31 this year, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu stated on Wednesday.

The move aims to spread New Year cheer and bring joy to millions of pensioners across the state. By distributing the funds a day in advance, the government intends to provide financial support to low-income families right at the start of the year.

The Chief Minister also shared the announcement on his X (formerly Twitter) account, saying, “As a New Year gift, we are distributing NTR Bharosa social pensions one day early. Pensions for January 1 will be delivered on December 31.”

For December’s pensions, the state government has released more than ₹2,700 crore, reaching over 63.12 lakh beneficiaries. Since coming to power, the NDA government has spent more than ₹50,000 crore on pensions, Chandrababu noted.

The Chief Minister highlighted that home delivery of pensions not only ensures financial security for the poor but also provides immense satisfaction to the government. All arrangements have been made to ensure beneficiaries receive their pensions at their doorstep. Pensioners across the state expressed delight at receiving the funds ahead of the New Year.

Under the NTR Bharosa scheme, the Andhra Pradesh government provides financial support to various vulnerable groups. Monthly pensions include ₹4,000 for senior citizens, widows, handloom workers, fishermen, artists, and traditional drummers (dappu artists); ₹6,000 for persons with disabilities; up to ₹15,000 for those with severe disabilities requiring full-time care; and ₹10,000 for patients with kidney disease or other serious chronic illnesses.

The early pension distribution is being celebrated as a thoughtful start to the New Year for thousands of families relying on this support.
