New GPT-5.1 Feature Lets Users Change ChatGPT’s Style and Tone
ChatGPT, the popular AI chatbot by OpenAI, now comes with a new feature that lets users change how it talks. With the latest GPT-5.1 model, eight personality types are available: Default, Professional, Friendly, Candid, Quirky, Efficient, Nerdy, and Cynical. Each personality makes ChatGPT respond in a slightly different style, from serious and professional to funny or sarcastic, without affecting what it can do.
If you want to try a new personality, it’s easy. On the web, click your profile icon, go to Personalisation , and pick a personality from the Base Style and Tone menu. On mobile or desktop apps, open the side panel, tap your profile, then go to Personalisation and select the personality. You can go back to the default style anytime.
Even if you don’t change the personality, ChatGPT has many benefits. It gives clear and accurate answers, remembers your preferences if memory is enabled, and works the same on mobile, desktop, or web. It can help you write emails, essays, summaries, or even code.
ChatGPT can also give health-related information, but it has limits. It cannot detect if you suddenly fall ill or monitor your body automatically. It only provides guidance if you tell it about your symptoms or ask questions. For example, you can describe feeling dizzy, having a fever, or experiencing pain, and it can explain what might be causing it, give tips, or suggest next steps. It can also provide general health advice about nutrition, lifestyle, or preventive measures.
However, ChatGPT is not a doctor. It cannot replace professional medical care, and it cannot send health alerts on its own. If you feel seriously ill, you should contact a doctor or emergency services immediately. The AI can make advice easier to understand and help you make informed decisions, but final action should always come from a qualified medical professional.
In short, ChatGPT’s new personalities make chatting with the AI more fun and personalized, while its knowledge base helps with information, guidance, and everyday questions. Users can explore different styles, ask about health or lifestyle, and still rely on its accurate, easy-to-understand responses.
