New Digital System to Ease Traffic Woes in Cyberabad

In a major initiative to curb rising traffic congestion and ensure safer travel for students, the Cyberabad Police have launched an ambitious digital mobility project. Under the leadership of Cyberabad Commissioner of Police Dr M. Ramesh, IPS , the Society for Cyberabad Security Council has rolled out the prestigious “Student Mobility” project , aimed at transforming urban transportation standards in the region.

Modelled on international benchmarks similar to the transport system in London, the digital public infrastructure plan seeks to gradually turn Cyberabad into a traffic-free zone. The project primarily focuses on reducing student drop-offs by private cars and introducing a coordinated group transportation system. Officials said this move is expected to significantly reduce congestion, particularly during peak school hours.

As part of the initiative, only police-verified vehicles will be deployed for student transport. Advanced safety measures including CCTV surveillance and real-time monitoring through the Command and Control Centre will be implemented to enhance security and operational transparency. Authorities stated that the integration of technology will enable effective supervision and quick response in case of emergencies.

The programme also aims to generate employment by appointing verified gig workers and local community members as mobility supervisors . Through coordination between RTC and private vehicles , officials plan to develop a sustainable and city-wide transportation model that ensures efficiency and reliability.

Describing it as more than just a transport solution, officials said the innovative system lays the foundation for a transparent and technology-driven future. The project is scheduled to be fully operational from June 2026 .
