Nepal Floods: 13 Andhra Pradesh Pilgrims Reported Missing

Thirteen people from Andhra Pradesh have been listed among those missing after devastating flash floods and landslides swept through parts of Nepal, officials said.

The AP Bhavan in New Delhi is cross-checking the details of the missing persons with the official list prepared by the Nepal Police and the Indian Embassy. Officials are coordinating with the concerned agencies to establish the identities of those affected and trace their whereabouts.

Meanwhile, around 145 Telugu pilgrims have reached Nepal’s Kodari border area and are completing immigration formalities to enter India. Four members of the group remain in regular contact with the AP Bhavan emergency control room, which is extending assistance to ensure the safe return of the stranded travellers.

AP Bhavan has also received an initial list of people who died in the disaster from the Nepal Police. The document, prepared in Nepali, includes details of unidentified victims and those who suffered serious injuries. Officials are now examining the information to determine whether any Telugu or Andhra Pradesh pilgrims are among them.

The disaster struck on August 26, when ice and debris reportedly came down from the mountains, triggering severe flooding in the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli river regions.

Authorities and AP Bhavan officials are working round the clock to trace those still missing, provide medical assistance to the injured, verify the identities of victims and facilitate the safe return of stranded pilgrims to India.
