Nellore to Host Grand Ganga Harathi During Ganesh Immersion

The Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations at Ganesh Ghat in Nellore are set to combine devotion, culture and elaborate arrangements, with a grand Ganga Harathi planned during the idol immersion ceremony on September 18, Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy said.

Speaking to the media on Sunday, the minister said all necessary arrangements were being made in coordination with various government departments to ensure that the celebrations are conducted smoothly and on a grand scale. The festivities at Ganesh Ghat, near the Irugalamma Temple, will be held from September 14 to 18.

Reddy held a coordination meeting with Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, representatives of the Vikrama Simhapuri Ganesh Utsav Samithi and senior officials from different departments. He directed officials to make comprehensive arrangements for the large number of devotees expected to attend the celebrations and ensure that they face no inconvenience.

As part of the arrangements, drinking water and buttermilk will be made available continuously at the venue. The minister also instructed officials to organise daily distribution of prasadam from prominent temples in Nellore.

The celebrations will feature a range of cultural programmes aimed at adding to the spiritual atmosphere. Renowned artistes from different parts of the country will perform Nadaswaram concerts and other special cultural programmes during the festivities.

The main attraction will be the idol immersion ceremony on September 18, when a grand Ganga Harathi will be performed amid Vedic chants by priests. The minister said the event would showcase the region's religious traditions while giving devotees an opportunity to participate in a spiritually significant ceremony.

Reddy said the Endowments Department was extending full support to the celebrations in keeping with the state's cultural and religious traditions. He urged officials, public representatives and members of the organising committee to work in close coordination to make the celebrations a grand and memorable event across Nellore city.
