Negligence at KGH Costs Mother Her Child
Following a complaint by a woman who alleged that negligence by doctors and staff at King George Hospital (KGH) caused the loss of her unborn child , Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan immediately intervened. He assured the affected family that the government would provide full support and instructed officials to bring the woman and her family to his office near the State Secretariat on Monday.
The incident came to light when Umadevi , a resident of Pattna, met the Deputy Chief Minister at Visakhapatnam Airport on Friday night during his return from a city tour. She alleged that after being admitted to KGH in the first week of December last year for delivery , she was subjected to severe negligence and inhumane treatment by hospital staff.
Umadevi stated that despite the completion of her delivery term , doctors delayed the decision for a cesarean section , forcing her to endure immense physical and mental suffering under the guise of a normal delivery. She claimed that even though her family repeatedly expressed concern about her critical condition, the medical staff ignored them and reportedly used harsh language. She broke down in tears while describing the inhumane treatment and the lack of timely medical intervention, which ultimately led to the death of her baby . She added that the hospital staff’s conduct caused her lifelong physical and psychological trauma .
Reacting strongly to the incident, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan spoke directly with the woman and her family to understand the full details. He assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted against the responsible doctors and staff to ensure accountability and prevent such incidents in the future. He emphasized that providing humane care in government hospitals is the responsibility of every staff member and that negligence would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
