
NDA Unveils AP Rajya Sabha Seat Pact Ahead of Elections
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Andhra Pradesh has finalised its seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. Under the agreement reached at a coordination committee meeting on Thursday, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) will contest three seats, while the Jana Sena Party will field a candidate for one seat.
The meeting also focused on plans to mark two years of NDA governance in Andhra Pradesh and highlight the achievements of the coalition government through a statewide outreach campaign .
As part of the programme, the alliance will hold major public meetings in Tirupati on June 9, Amaravati on June 12 and Visakhapatnam on June 15. The events will focus on welfare, governance and development, respectively. District-level programmes are also scheduled between June 13 and June 20.
TDP Andhra Pradesh president Palla Srinivasa Rao said the campaign would showcase the achievements of both the state and central governments. A detailed district-wise schedule will be announced shortly, he added.
State minister Nadendla Manohar said the alliance plans to highlight 24 major welfare and development initiatives implemented during its first 24 months in office. Union ministers are expected to participate in the campaign. He also clarified that the Jana Sena leadership will announce its Rajya Sabha candidate.
BJP state president P.V.N. Madhav said the outreach programme would also draw attention to key projects such as industrial investments, the Polavaram Project , Amaravati’s development and the Visakhapatnam Railway Zone . He reiterated that the BJP, TDP and Jana Sena remain united and committed to the state's development.
The Rajya Sabha election process is already underway. June 8 is the last date for filing nominations, scrutiny will take place on June 9 , withdrawals can be made until June 11 , and polling, if necessary, will be held on June 18 , with counting and results scheduled for the same day.
