N. Ramchander Rao, Telangana president of the Bharatiya Janata Party, on Thursday said the Assembly elections in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu could reshape national politics , expressing confidence that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would emerge stronger.

Speaking in Hyderabad, he said voters in both states appear inclined toward change , with results on May 4 expected to reflect this shift. Referring to West Bengal, he raised concerns over violence and urged voters to cast their ballots freely , while noting that extensive security arrangements by the Election Commission of India aim to ensure peaceful polling .

In Tamil Nadu, where voting is being held in a single phase across 234 constituencies , Rao said the electorate is likely to prioritise development and governance, criticising what he termed corruption under Dravidian politics. He predicted that electoral trends in both states favour the NDA and could lead to a change in power.

Rao also criticised Mallikarjun Kharge of the Indian National Congress over remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling them inappropriate and reflective of declining political standards. He urged the Election Commission to take stricter action beyond issuing notices, warning that such statements could mislead the public.

He added that the upcoming results would be decisive for the country’s political direction and expressed confidence that public support for Modi’s leadership and governance agenda would be reaffirmed.
