NDA Set for One-Sided Victory in AP Rajya Sabha Race

The ruling NDA alliance in Andhra Pradesh is set to dominate the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, with all four vacant seats expected to go in its favour. The Election Commission has scheduled polling for June 18, while the terms of four MPs conclude in June and July.

The retiring members include YSRCP leaders A. Ayodhya Rami Reddy, Parimal Nathwani and P. Subhash Chandra Bose, along with TDP MP S. Satish Babu. The election is likely to trigger a major shift in Andhra Pradesh’s representation in the Upper House following the NDA’s sweeping Assembly victory.

The alliance currently enjoys a commanding majority with TDP holding 135 MLAs, Janasena 21 and the BJP 8, taking the coalition’s total strength to 164 members in the 175-seat Assembly. With these numbers firmly in its favour, the alliance is expected to win all four seats comfortably.

In contrast, the YSRCP , which presently has seven Rajya Sabha members from the state, has been reduced to just 11 MLAs in the Assembly, leaving the party with little room to challenge the ruling bloc.

According to political sources, internal discussions on seat-sharing are nearing completion. The TDP is likely to contest two seats, while the remaining seats may be allotted to the BJP and Janasena as part of the alliance formula.

Political analysts believe the outcome will further strengthen the NDA’s influence in both Andhra Pradesh politics and Parliament .
