Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday condemned the failure to pass the Women’s Reservation Bill in the Lok Sabha, calling it an “unforgivable act” that undermines women’s political empowerment.

Speaking at a protest rally organized by NDA allies in Nidadavole , he said the proposed 33% reservation had raised hopes for greater representation of women in legislatures. He accused opposition parties, led by the Indian National Congress , of blocking the bill for political reasons, terming the development a “black day” in India’s democratic history.

Naidu criticized what he described as a patriarchal mindset in certain political sections, stating that resistance to women’s advancement reflects outdated attitudes. He urged women to unite and voice their opposition to the move.

On delimitation, he said Andhra Pradesh would not face any injustice, citing assurances from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah . He added that a 50% increase in Lok Sabha seats could benefit the state and accused the opposition of spreading misinformation.

The Chief Minister called on voters to reject parties that opposed the bill in the upcoming elections and reiterated his commitment to advancing women’s empowerment. Leaders and workers from NDA allies, including BJP, TDP, and Jana Sena, participated in the rally in large numbers.
