NCSC Chief Reviews Telangana's SC Welfare, Education Reforms with CM Revanth

National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) Chairman Kishor Makwana met Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday to review the state's education reforms and welfare initiatives for the Scheduled Caste (SC) community. The meeting, held at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Praja Bhavan in Hyderabad, was attended by members of the Commission and senior state officials.

During the interaction, the Chief Minister outlined the government's efforts to improve educational access while fostering social equality. He said the state is developing Young India Integrated Residential Schools across all 119 Assembly constituencies , with each campus spread over 25 acres . The residential schools are expected to become operational from the next academic year and are aimed at providing students from diverse backgrounds with equal learning opportunities in an inclusive environment.

Revanth Reddy also briefed the Commission on the rollout of Telangana Public Schools , a new initiative designed to offer free quality education from nursery to Class XII . Besides academics, the schools will provide free breakfast, lunch and transportation , with the first phase being launched in major urban centres before expanding to other parts of the state.

Highlighting the government's commitment to SC empowerment , the Chief Minister said Telangana is ensuring representation and opportunities for Scheduled Castes in excess of their population share across key sectors. He also informed the Commission that the state has completed and implemented SC sub-categorisation , a significant reform intended to ensure a more equitable distribution of reservation benefits among different Scheduled Caste communities following the Supreme Court's landmark judgment permitting such classification.

Seeking continued institutional support, Revanth Reddy urged the National Commission for Scheduled Castes , a constitutional body responsible for safeguarding the rights and interests of Scheduled Castes under Article 338 of the Constitution , to facilitate greater assistance from the Central Government for Telangana's welfare and development programmes.

The meeting was attended by SC Welfare Minister Andluri Laxman Kumar , Government Adviser Mohammed Ali Shabbir , Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju , DGP C.V. Anand , members of the NCSC , and other senior officials.
