NCP-SP MLA Rohit Pawar writes to PM seeking ouster of civil aviation minister

NCP-SP MLA Rohit Pawar on Saturday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to remove Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu from office and called for an independent investigation into the plane crash that killed Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar last month.

Speaking at a press conference, Rohit Pawar alleged that the Baramati air crash , which claimed Ajit Pawar’s life along with four others, may have been the result of a deliberate act involving the air charter company VSR . He claimed the company has questionable links with the Telugu Desam Party and the minister, and demanded these connections be examined by an independent authority , preferably in coordination with international agencies .

In a letter to the Prime Minister, a copy of which was marked to Home Minister Amit Shah , Rohit Pawar, a two-term MLA and grandson of NCP-SP chief Sharad Pawar , wrote: “You have always shown respect for Ajit Dada and his contribution to the country. In this context, I request that Rammohan Naidu be asked to resign from his post .”

He added that his findings suggested influential figures across politics and industry were involved with VSR, raising doubts about the transparency of any investigation . Pawar urged that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation’s role be thoroughly examined to ensure no interference or compromise had occurred in relation to the company.

The tragic crash occurred on January 28 when the air charter carrying Ajit Pawar and four others went down barely 200 metres from the edge of Baramati airport’s tabletop runway in Pune district.
