Nayanthara’s 'Mahasakthi' Faces Poor Buzz In Telugu Ahead Of November 6 Release
Lady Superstar Nayanthara is gearing up for her fifth theatrical release of 2026 with 'Mookuthi Amman 2', which is arriving in theatres today, November 6. Directed by Sundar C, the devotional fantasy entertainer is releasing in Telugu under the title 'Mahasakthi'. However, the film is entering the Telugu box office with very little pre-release buzz.
Despite featuring a popular star like Nayanthara, the film has failed to create much excitement among Telugu audiences. The makers unveiled the teaser and trailer, offering glimpses of a story that combines devotion, mythology, fantasy, comedy and action. However, the promotional campaign has not generated the expected response in the Telugu market, leaving the film heavily dependent on positive word of mouth after its release.
Interestingly, the trailer has revealed that Nayanthara appears in a dual role, playing Goddess Mookuthi Amman and a timid police officer. The story moves between a mythological kingdom facing an invasion and the present day, where a mysterious supernatural threat puts innocent people in danger. The goddess returns to protect a young prince and confront a powerful evil force.
Regina Cassandra plays the antagonist, while Kannada actor Duniya Vijay also appears in a prominent role. The supporting cast includes Urvashi, Yogi Babu, Ajay Ghosh, Abhinaya, Shruthy S, Myna Nandini and several others. Actress Sneha is also associated with the project.
The sequel follows the 2020 devotional entertainer 'Mookuthi Amman', which featured Nayanthara in the titular role and was directed by RJ Balaji. However, Sundar C has taken over the directorial responsibilities for the second instalment. HipHop Tamizha has composed the music, while Venkatt Ragavan has penned the screenplay and dialogues.
Produced by Vels Film International, in association with Rowdy Pictures and Avni Cinemax, the film is also facing considerable competition at the box office. 'Ramayana: Part 1' and Suriya's 'Scene' are among the notable releases arriving around the same time.
